Third Drawer Down in collaboration with Scottish artist David Shrigley present Life is Fantastic, a Domestic Art Tea Towel. This is a digitally printed artwork on 100% linen. It can be seen as a functional domestic art tea towel or an artwork to be framed and displayed
About the Artist:
David Shrigley is a Scottish artist who has come to prominence through his drawings, publications and sculptural works. His drawings have a kind of throwaway beauty peopled as they are with monster children, idiots, aliens, bad parents and full of twisted lists and exchanges. Shrigley’s artist’s books act as an index of his angst about modern living, his disappointments and his cynicism.
Drawing can be the most intimate of exchanges physically - the scratching’s of a pen on paper, the scale of the notebook, erasing and building and image. But it also acts as a cathartic action. Maybe not just for the artist but for the viewer as well. So in Shrigley’s work he’s also releasing something for everybody - tell us when we are no longer needed and we’ll go.

Among the earth's oldest creatures, the dragonfly has captivated imaginations across cultures since antiquity. Dragonflies were the winged shamans of Zuni myth and legend, carrying supernatural powers and the possibility of spiritual transformation in their whirlwind of flight. Revered for centuries in Japan, the dragonfly was thought to swiftly carry the spirits of ancestors to their beloveds. These shimmering, iridescent bodies also drift into Western folkloric traditions in which dragonflies were known as the needle-shaped gatekeepers of truth, sewing with threads the voice of the deceitful.
Sculptor Agelio Batle carries the spirit of nature's timeless forms in this series of graphite objects. Batle's reverence for organic forms was inspired by countless hours spent in the grandeur and wisdom of nature, intimately observing and studying. Further nurtured into being through Batle's formal studies in biology and art, this vision thrived and grew. Each graphite objects was meticulously created through a unique process he invented. Carbonaceous graphite (mineral remains of prehistoric plant life) was combined with smudge-resistant compounds under intense pressure. The mass then fused into expression of nature's enduring simplicity you see before you. All their surfaces can draw and the graphite will resist smudging onto your hands. Batle envisions these objects as sculptures, as much as they are implements for inspiring your own vision.
